A renowned landscape designer in Nagasaki, Masami Matsuda, created the garden according to time honored Japanese design principles using plants and trees that are hardy in Minnesota. Infused with true Japanese design, the garden is meant to delight your senses. The Japanese Garden will close if there is snow or ice on the path. In a country as densely populated as Japan, a garden provides a source of relief and serenity in crowded, urban areas. Like any garden, it is alive with beautiful things, making it a feast for the senses. It was designed by Masami Matsuda, landscape architect from Nagasaki, as a peaceful retreat.

St. Paul Chinese garden getting pavilion gift from sister city – Twin Cities
On Wednesday, St. Paul officially approved an exchange with sister city Changsha, China. Paul will send five statues of Peanuts characters to the south central China city of 7 million residents. In return, Changsha will send St. The pavilion will be a focus point of the planned St. Paul-Changsha China Friendship Garden. Changsha is the ancestral homeland of the Hmong.
